Women in Energy Australia

Women in Energy Australia was launched in 2020, to help address the lack of gender diversity in CIGRE Australia. The group is part of the larger global CIGRE Women in Engineering forum.

Like the broader engineering sector in Australia women remain significantly under-represented. Within CIGRE Australia’s individual memberships only 5.2% identify as female. Two women are currently convening one of the 16 Australian Panels representing 12.5% of our Panel leadership. Three out of ten (30%) of the Directors on the CIGRE Australia Board are women.

Australian power systems are undergoing unprecedented changes. It’s clear that there is no better time to promote diversity in the engineering industry in order to address the many associated technical challenges.

The Women in Energy Network Australia is a group of CIGRE Australia and NGN members, working together to empower both current and future female members to build fulfilling careers in the energy industry and in CIGRE. The NGN Australia committee plays an integral role in supporting Women in Energy Australia.
